Rover - Mobile recycling unit

The Rover mobile recycling unit will not operate over the Christmas period. The last collection will be Wednesday 23 December and collections will start from Monday 4  January.

Bulky Matters

If you’ve treated yourself to a new bit of furniture or a brand new TV over the festive period and are worried about being left with the old one, Bulky Matters can help. 

Bulky Matters is a service run in partnership with Blackpool Council and can help remove and recycle all of your old bulky waste, for just a small fee. You can book a bulky collection online

Christmas tree collection

When the festivities are over, you can carry on spreading kindness, joy and cheer by recycling your Christmas tree.

This year we are again partnering with Trinity Hospice and in exchange for a donation* they will come and collect your tree.

They will be collecting trees on Saturday and Sunday 9 and 10 January** from the FY1, FY2, FY3, FY4, FY5, FY6 and FY8 areas.

*90% of profits will support Trinity Hospice with a further 10% being donated to other local charities
**Limited collection spots available, so book early to avoid disappointment.

The last Customer First appointments will be on Wednesday 23 December.

Benefit payment changes

If your normal payment is due on Thursday 24 December payment will be released as follows:

  • BACS payments ‐ Released Monday 21 December crediting bank accounts as normal on Thursday 24 December 2020

If your normal payment is due on Thursday 31 December 2020 payment will be released as follows:

  • BACS Payments – Released Monday 28 December crediting bank accounts as normal on Thursday 31 December 2020

The Grundy Art Gallery will close on the 19 December and will reopen with a new exhibition on 16 January 2021

Registrar service

Blackpool registration service will be closed on Friday 25 and Monday 28 December and Friday 1 January.

The registrars are open at the Town Hall, Talbot Square from 9.00am to 4.30pm by appointment only on the same dates.

Appointments can be booked online to register a death at the Town Hall and to register births.

All certificate services will be suspended from 24 December and will resume on 4 January.
