M55 Link and Ashworth Road roundabout to be resurfaced
As part of Blackpool Council’s Project 30, which is repairing 40 miles of footways and carriageways across the town, the timetable for road resurfacements between January and March has now been released. (Click here to read the full timetable)

On 23 January, road resurfacement works will take place on the Ashworth Road roundabout and one stretch of carriageway that links the roundabout with junction 4 of the M55.

Work will be carried out for three weeks, repairing both sides of the roundabout and the eastward bound carriageway of the M55 Link.

The work will be carried out as follows:

Phase One: the west side of the roundabout is to be resurfaced. Whilst this is ongoing Progress Way will be closed between Midgeland Road and Ashworth Road roundabout, to east bound traffic. Also Yeadon Way will be closed from Parkinson Way to Ashworth Road roundabout to all traffic.

Phase Two: the east side of the roundabout and the east bound side of the link road between Ashworth Road roundabout and junction four M55, also there will be no access to Progress Way and the M55 link road from Ashworth Road.

This work is being carried out during one of the quietest times of the year so as to minimise disruption and we thank everybody for their patience during this time.

Diversions

A set of diversions have been put in place for during both phases of the repair works.

Phase one: Midgeland Road – Cherry Tree Road – Clifton Road – Preston New Road.

Parkinson Way - Waterloo Road – Preston New Road.

Clifton Road – Preston New Road.

Phase two: Ashworth Road – Clifton Road – Preston New Road.

All diversion routes will be clearly signposted but you should expect some delays and disruption.
