Blackpool Council provides a range of adult learning and education courses and drop-in sessions for people living in Blackpool, aged 19 and above (learners must be over 19 by 1 August 2017).

Family learning

Family learning offers a range of courses for mums, dads, grandparents, carers and children. Some courses focus on families learning together, while others are for parents/carers only, with the emphasis on supporting the family.

Courses take place in over 30 venues across Blackpool including schools and children's centres. Look out for our courses at your nearest venue.

Accredited employability and life skills

Booking is essential for all employability and life skills course 

ECDL Level 2 certificate

ECDL is an accredited computer qualification that employers recognise and value. Learn how to use spreadsheets, word processing software and more. The course is approximately 20 to 30 weeks. You work at your own pace which can take up 20 - 30 weeks to complete. Registration fee is a one off payment and lasts for 12 months. You can enrol at any point of the term.

Functional Skills ICT Level1

This course is designed for adults wishing to further develop their ICT skills. The knowledge and skills in the course will help towards gaining employment and work. The functional skills qualification will also provide a platform to further ICT.

Internet safety (for Job Seekers) level 1

This is an accredited course where you will get a level 1 award in internet safety for IT users. The course gives you knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of internet safety including safeguarding yourself and others when working online,maintaining data security and following guidelines and procedures. This course has been found to be useful for Job Seekers. This course includes an online assessment.

This course is designed for new or basic Excel users and will cover all aspects of creating  new spreadsheets, including Excel calculations, printing, formatting and basic list management.

Next Step IT- What is the Cloud?

This course is designed for those who have some internet knowledge and want to know more about the cloud. Topics include how webb apps work, saving and sharing documents online, mail,files and more. The course is tended to further build confidence in suing the internet and answering your questions about the cloud.

Word processing for creating and saving documents

This is a one-day training course designed to enable users to get to grips with the main features of microsoft word. PowerPoint for creating presentations

This is a one day training course to enable users to get to grips with main features of Microsoft PowerPoint. English and maths

Do you want to improve your maths or English? Come along to our assessment to find out your current level and talk to our tutor who will help you find the right class for you. English and maths classes are delivered on a variety of days.

English and maths assessments

An initial assessment is carried out to discover your current learning level. Courses are then delivered on a variety of days in small classes tailored to suit your needs and level of learning. Assessments are carried on throughout with a nationally recognised test at the end.

As this is a skills builder session, it is advised you phone to check this will be running before turning up.

English qualification

This new course at palatine Library will help you gain a nationally recognised qualification in functional English, up to a Level 2. You can build up the skills needed to improve your spelling, punctuation and grammar for at home or work and work at your own level.

Lifting barriers

Designed for anybody who wants to improve their English skills and those who have been diagnosed with dyslexia.
