The Virtual School

Imagine that every looked after child and young person in Blackpool attends the same school - we call this school the 'virtual school'. This is so we know how well you are all doing and to make sure everything is being done to support you with your education.

Of course you all go to lots of different schools, so the staff in the virtual school work with all schools to make sure they are doing all they can to help you make good progress and achieve your very best.

  • Make sure you have a school place by helping your social workers apply at the right time
  • Constantly review your attendance, progress and achievements so that if you are having any difficulties at school we can make sure they get sorted out for you as soon as possible

Some of you may come across a member of the virtual school team at a meeting about your education or we might do direct work with you if you are having problems in school.

We also help your engagement officer, Kirsty, with trips to university for those of you who are thinking of going into higher education.

We will hopefully see you at the 'celebration of achievement' awards evening where we get to help celebrate your successes at school, college and university.

If you have any questions or would like to speak to us about anything else please do get in touch.
