Housing for older people

While there are a number of services that support older people in their own homes, there are also a range of housing options available for older people who need specialist accommodation.

Sheltered housing is self-contained accommodation that is specially designed for older people. It provides the re-assurance of warden-call systems and regular visits for those who require them. Support is tailored to meet individual needs, helping to maintain independence and enhance quality of life.

Blackpool Coastal Housing manages 20 sheltered housing schemes on behalf of Blackpool Council. Local housing associations also provide a number of sheltered housing schemes in Blackpool.

Visit Blackpool Coastal Housing’s website for more information about the schemes or MyHomeChoiceFyldeCoast if you want to apply for sheltered housing in Blackpool.

Additional support

For older people who require more support, there are also two extra care schemes in Blackpool that are managed by Great Places Housing Group

Accommodation is provided in a self-contained flat within a larger building where there are communal facilities and where care services are provided on site.

Visit the residential care and nursing homes page for information about care for older people.
