The regeneration of the area is now completed, with tower blocks and the maisonettes having been replaced by high quality homes built by Lovell.
Blackpool Council worked closely with residents to create designs for the new homes to deliver a new neighbourhood that is a great place to live for current and future generations. Tenants of Blackpool Coastal Housing were offered the opportunity to stay on the estate and move into the new homes.
New homes
The new homes include a mix of apartments and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses. The scheme is providing construction apprenticeship opportunities.
Lovell have joined up with Blackpool Build Up and Constructing the Future Lancashire, providing jobs and training placements for local unemployed people.
The development includes plans to build on part of 'Layton Rec'. This will be balanced by bringing new green space into the heart of the Queens Park estate. As part of the re-development work, funding has been put aside to improve 'Layton Rec' for the benefit of all the residents in the area.
