Roadworks

Temporary roadworks can range from small maintenance work to major road closures and can cause varied levels of disruption. 

We will always try to minimise any disruption on our roads and thank our local residents for bearing with us while we work to make the roads better for the future.

Oxford Square traffic lights replacement work

Work will start at the Oxford Square junction to replace the traffic lights on Monday 10 February, moving on to Vicarage Lane on Monday 24 February. The work is expected to last until Friday 16 May with works being suspended over the Easter holidays from Thursday 17 to Tuesday 22 April. The work will be carried out in four phases. Please expect delays.

Phase 1a - Monday 10 February to Sunday 23 February

  • All manoeuvres  will be available but temporary signals will be installed so please expect delays

Phase 1b - Monday 24 February to Sunday 16 March

  • Vicarage Lane closed in all directions.
  • All other manoeuvres will be available but temporary signals will be installed so please expect delays

Phase 2 -  Sunday 16 March to Sunday 13 April

  • No right turns from Vicarage Lane on to Waterloo Road
  • All other manoeuvres will be available but temporary signals will be installed so please expect delays

Phase 3 - Sunday 13 April to Friday 16 May

  • Temporary traffic signals at Vicarage Lane and Waterloo junction so please expect delays
  • No right turn from Preston New Road for HGV and large vehicles
  • No straight on from Preston New Road to Park Road for HGV and large vehicles

Lytham Road bridge

Network Rail, along with Blackpool Council, will carry out strengthening and resurfacing work on the Lytham Road bridge from Monday 3 March to Friday 4 July.
These essential works will cause some unavoidable disruption, and the bridge will need to be closed to traffic between the 10 March and week commencing 14 April.
