Dogs on the beach

Promenades

Blackpool welcomes responsible dog owners. Please help us to keep the seafront a safe and clean place for all residents and visitors.

Dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenade at all times between North and South Piers and any area specified where there is no physical barrier between the highway and or tram track and the promenade.

Beaches

Blackpool is proud of its award winning clean beaches and happy to welcome dogs and their responsible owners. There is however an exclusion period.

Between 1 May and 30 September dogs are not allowed to be exercised on the beach at all between North Pier and the Mirror Ball opposite the Solaris Centre.

These restrictions do not apply to guide dogs, they are allowed at all times throughout the year.

Beaches where dogs are welcome at all times throughout the year

Beaches where dogs are welcome are from

  • The Solaris, Mirror Ball to Squires Gate (South)
  • North Pier – Anchorsholme (North)

We do advise that dogs are exercised on lead and or owners have full control using reliable recall, if unleashed.
