Dogs on the beach

Promenades

Blackpool welcomes responsible dog owners. Please help us to keep the seafront a safe and clean place for all residents and visitors.

Dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenade at all times

Beaches

Blackpool is proud of its award winning clean beaches but we are happy to welcome dogs and they are welcome at over 60% of our beaches.

They are only restricted from our central and south beach areas from May to October.

Beaches where dogs are welcome on a lead

  • Beach area north of the North pier
  • Beach area south of the Solaris Centre/mirror ball

Beaches where dogs are excluded

Dogs are not allowed on the following beach areas between 1 May and 30 September.

Owners who take their dogs into these areas will be liable to an on-the-spot fine of up to £100, rising up to £1,000 if fined in court.

  • The area of beach between the southern side of North Pier and the Solaris Centre/mirror ball
  • Slopes and staircases leading to the beach
