Climbing and bouldering

NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes) courses are available for ages 7-16 years and adult courses are available for ages 16+ years. All courses run during term times and must be booked in blocks. Sessions cost from £5.30 per session for children and £7.50 per session for adults. Each NICAS course is 1 hour in length.

Young Person taster sessions are available for 5-16 year olds from £2.90 per session and run for 30 minutes. 

Pay as You Go family sessions: children from £5 and adults from £7 per session.

Climbing Wall

The 9 m lead wall provides an excellent opportunity for beginners and experienced climbers alike to practice, challenge and excel in an ever-growing sport.  For those that have never climbed before, enrol yourself on one of our beginner courses, or alternatively come climbing with an experienced friend.

Blackpool Council offer a variety of Learn to Climb Courses for adult and juniors, in line with the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS).

We are also able to offer climbing sessions for parties and groups and taster sessions.

Bouldering Wall

The bouldering room allows those new to climbing to develop their strength and skills in an environment that bouldering-walldoesn't require ropes or harnesses, as well as an opportunity for the more experienced and elite boulderers to improve their skills and techniques in a safe and dedicated environment.

If you are aged over 14 and wish to use the bouldering room, a registration form will need to be completed. In addition, if you are aged 14-17 years, an adult consent form will also need to be completed. On satisfactory completion of the Registration Form you will be able to climb unaccompanied in the bouldering room (an induction will not need to be completed).

Climbing Towers at Bancroft Park

Blackpool Climbing Towers, situated at Bancroft Park in the South of Blackpool, offer a unique outdoor location for climbing.  They are tripod structures providing overhanging, vertical and easy-angled slab routes offering climbing for both the complete beginner and experienced climber alike.

There is also an open access bouldering wall situated on Bancroft Park, it is made of natural stone, 2.5 metres high and 12 m long.  The wall utilises different rock types throughout providing a variety of climbing moves to aid specific training.

We now provide free parking facilities in the local car park, 400 m from the climbing towers.  You will require a parking pass to use this car park free of charge. Register for your free pass here and directions to the car park can be found here. Please note you are no longer able to park on Bancroft Park itself.

Mobile Climbing Wall

We have a 7 m high mobile climbing tower is fully supervised and caters for a variety of ages and abilities from 5 years and up.  All necessary climbing equipment will be provided on the day.

The wall is available for hire for event days, birthday parties, corporate groups, team building and private groups.

If you intend to lead climb please bring your own rope for use on the climbing towers. The minimum rope length needed is 45 m. A minimum of 13 quick draws would be needed to reach the top of the climbing towers although we do have mid anchor points in place.
