Sport Blackpool provides access to cycling and cycling facilities, including hire bikes, cycle courses, cycle track and group rides.


Wheels For All

Blackpool has a dedicated wheels for all centre based at Stanley Park. There are regular sessions held where you can take part, however please note that the wheel for all centre does not operate every week, so it is best to check by phone or email, or on our sport Blackpool twitter and Facebook pages for updates.

Hand cycles, trikes, quads, two wheel bikes are available to try out.

Let's Ride

Our partners in developing Cycling in Blackpool, British Cycling as part of their HSBC Guided Rides plan and stage several rides in Blackpool throughout the summer months, again led by trained leaders where you will find an easy, steady or challenging route to suit your particular needs.

Adult Cycle Training

Does the idea of cycling on the road worry you?

Specific 1-1, learn to ride and group sessions are available designed to give you the skills, confidence and support to cycle safely on the road in traffic, making for a more enjoyable ride.

The training delivered by Blackpool Council's qualified cycle instructors over a minimum two hours (extra sessions may be advised or applicable depending on your specific need). Courses can even be more bespoke towards your needs, so please contact us for further information.

Bikeability is the national standard cycle training programme designed to teach cycling skills and knowledge in a practical way for today's roads visit the national website for more detailed information.

Blackpool Council’s qualified cycle instructors deliver Levels 1 to 3 within the majority of  schools from school year 5 and upwards, across Blackpool. At school holiday time we also stage a limited number of open courses and will advertise these in due course.

Cycling Clubs

Blackpool BMX Club - Meets every Saturday morning at the BMX race track in Stanley Park. New members welcome. 

Blackpool Clarion - The club motto is "we never leave a rider behind". Club rides around the Fylde on alternate Sundays and every Thursday in the summer.

Blackpool Youth Cycling Association (BYCA) - a road bike club with British Cycling qualified coaches for children aged 8 to 18. It meets on Tuesday evenings at the Palatine Leisure Centre cycle track.

Blackpool BMX Track

National standard BMX race track on East Park Drive, Blackpool.

Palatine Closed Circuit Track

1km road bike track for racing events, training and open to the public.

(Pre booking is required at Palatine Leisure Centre).

Mereside Pump Track

A track with bumps and banked corners that can be ridden without pedalling. Bowness Avenue, Blackpool.

Led Rides

Qualified cycle instructors are available to plan and lead rides for community groups that are tailor made to the requirements of your event. There's also a variety of risk assessed off-road routes to choose from starting from Blackpool Sports Centre and Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre. Bikes and helmets are available for loan. Use the cycle map to plan your route to work, school or the shops. Fancy a leisurely ride around town to keep fit? The map will help you find the quickest or most cycle friendly route to take. You could find some off-road routes you didn't know about.
