Active 4 Health Scheme

Active 4 Health Scheme Active 4 Health provides supervised exercise for clients who have been referred by their GP with such conditions as: 

  • diabetes
  • high cholesterol
  • asthma
  • high blood pressure
  • obesity
  • anxiety and
  • depression
It is provided to help people make lifestyle changes that will help to improve their health.

The programme requires attendance at 2 sessions per week and is delivered over an 8 week period.  Sessions are delivered as small group circuits but there are also opportunities to exercise on your own. 

The programme also includes swimming, cycling, and dance for health activities.  Educational sessions are also provided and topics such as 'the benefits of exercise' and 'healthy eating' are covered.

To take part in the activities, you will have to be recommended to the scheme by your doctor or nurse.  They will advise if you are suitable.

The activities are subject to the concessionary rate cost of £2.10 per session.
