Arts Development

Arts Development Our Arts Service provides Blackpool’s residents and visitors with opportunities for access to and participation in a wide range of high quality arts activities.

We have a strategic and delivery role in the development of these activities and work in partnership with a range of organizations such as the regional arts council.

We work with all art forms, including music, dance, drama, new media, creative writing, visual and public art.

The Service has overall responsibility for the Grundy Art Gallery and the Council’s Collection as well as the contemporary art works that make up the Great Promenade Show on South Shore.

We are able to offer advice and assistance to any community group in Blackpool interested in setting up a creative project with an artist or arts organization. We can also offer advice to local artists and creative practitioners interested in working with the community or in developing their creative business.

Please contact us to find out when our next surgery advice day is taking place and we can arrange an appointment.

Please note that the closing date for the first round of applications is 5th May 2010.

Blackpool Culture Shops Programme

Blackpool Council is one of a number of local authorities across the country that has recently received support from the Department for Communities and Local Government through the Looking After Our Town Centres initiative. This support has been provided to encourage the use of vacant shop premises to reinvigorate town centres and help economic recovery following the recession. As part of a complementary set of recession-related measures, Blackpool Council has also been awarded a Grants for the Arts Award for the Art in Empty Spaces initiative to support a programme of artistic activity in our empty town centre properties.

We are now looking for expressions of interest from artists and creative enterprises that would like to be considered for our 12 month pilot programme.

Please download the Blackpool Culture Shops information pack and additional information files for more details and advice on how to apply.
