Arts Engagement Programme

Arts Engagement Programme

Blackpool’s Arts Engagement Programme is an ambitious programme supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England to encourage local communities to engage with and participate in the Arts in innovative and creative ways.

The Arts Engagement Programme aims to:

  • work with partners, agencies and communities to increase participation and engagement in the Arts
  • work with local, regional and national artists in the delivery of innovative programmes of creativity
  • link communities with existing creative opportunities within Blackpool and use them to their advantage
Current activity:

Project Object:
We are currently recruiting three artists for Project Object, which aims to link artist with community groups to work with Blackpool's rich cultural heritage to create a range of products which can be sold at a range of retail points in Blackpool. Further details of the project can be found here.

Theatre in the Quarter's 'Star of Wonder':
Two free community workshops will take place at Central Library's Brunswick Room on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 February from 5-6.30pm. Everyone welcome!

Come and join Theatre in the Quarter's Music Director and the participants from the community workshops for this very special performance of 'Singing Hall Era' songs, taken from Blackpool's Heritage Collections and featuring songs such as 'Me and Jane on a Plane' and Blackpool Carnival Songs from the 1930's.

Performances for Star of Wonder will take place during the Showzam festival at the Grand Theatre Studio on 14, 15 at 7pm and 16 February at 2pm. Adult £7.00 and child £5.00. Book tickets via the Grant Theatre Box Office on 01253 290111 or http://www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk/shows/1/2695/Star-of-Wonder.htm
