Wordpool 2010 is Blackpool Council’s fourth annual Festival of Words. This year the Arts Service and Blackpool Libraries have programmed 6 days of free exciting events and activities at various locations in Blackpool.

Sat Oct 2nd 11.30am - 12noon Wordpool Opening - St. John’s Square The Mayor of Blackpool Performances by SWANK, Steph Fraser and more free entertainment
10.30am – 3pm Wordfair - the Old Post Office Abingdon Street Artists, Craft makers and Writers selling all sorts of wonderful things inspired by words, over 20 stalls – free entry. 12.30pm ‘Grand Words’ final - Grand Theatre Studio followed by ‘The Play’s the Thing’ come & join the Grand’s regular lively Play Reading Group (fringe event - £3)
Sun Oct 3rd 11.30am – 3pm “It came from….” Stanley Park near the Model Village An ‘out of this world’ free family event ‘IT’ is here! with friends from HandHeld Theatre Company, the Dopplegangers & lots of Arts & Crafts fun for all ages
Tues Oct 5th 10.30am – 12noon Dr Anke Bernau discusses Wolfhall - FYCreatives, 154-158 Church Street, Blackpool (Lecturer in Medieval Literature and Culture at the University of Manchester) Occult History & the Monstrous Past - free
1.30pm - 3pm Simon Entwistle - Storytelling Walk meet at Grundy Art Gallery, Queen Street, Blackpool Ghosts and Hauntings of Blackpool - free
2pm – 3.30pm Stephen Clayton - Bispham Library Crime author discusses the genre and his latest work The Art of Being Dead – free
3.30pm – 5pm Afternoon Tea with John Siddique – FYCreatives, 154 – 156 Church Street, Blackpool Reading new work, Blackpool poems and some old favourites. Poetry Quilt Raffle - invitation event
4pm – 5pm Alexandra Heminsley - Venue TBC ‘EX and the City’ under 16s event - Free
6.30pm – 8pm Alexandra Heminsley and Sarra Manning Blackpool 6th Form. Blackpool Old Road, Blackpool Two successful authors discuss writing, blogging and life! - Free
Wed Oct 6th 12.30pm – 1.45pm or 2.30pm -3.45pm Last Tram to Starr Gate - Meet on North Pier finish at South Pier Jacqueline Pilton & Louise McNulty a Street Theatre event based on the play “Last Tram to Starr Gate” at various locations along the prom take a tram, hire a bike or walk between the scenes - Free
7.30pm for 8pm ‘Me, Mum & Dusty Springfield’ - Grand Theatre Studio Stephanie Ridings Matcham’s Bar pre-show drinks, show 8pm followed by Directors Chair Q&A.
Thurs Oct 7th Café Culture – National Poetry Day Event - the No 5 Café, Cedar Square, Blackpool
1pm – 8pm On-line link up with cafes around the world. Drop in workshops & performances with They Eat Culture, Poets Marvin Cheeseman, Rachel McGladdery & Annie Clarkson
