Blackpool Local Plan

Blackpool Local Plan The Blackpool Local Plan (adopted in 2006) sets out The Council's current  policies and proposals for the manner in which land, buildings and infrastructure should be developed within an individual district.

These include:
  • sites proposed to be developed for housing; business/industrial, retail, leisure and other purposes
  • criteria against which proposals for the development and the change of use of premises in other locations will be assessed
  • policies on the design and layout of development proposals
  • the designation of areas to be protected from development
  • proposals for the improvement of public areas and local infrastructure and facilities

The Blackpool Local Plan has for many years formed the main basis against which applications for planning permission are considered.  The local plan is now being replaced by the Local Development Framework but a vast amount of the policies of the local plan have been 'saved'.
