The Blackpool Local Plan was adopted in June 2006, with the polices automatically ‘saved’ for three years (i.e. June 2009). The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act came into force in September 2004, as a result the Blackpool Local Plan is currently being replaced by the new Local Development Framework.
To ensure that a policy vacuum does not occur, Blackpool Council applied to the Government Office for the North West to save a number of the Local Plan policies. The Government Office for the North West, on behalf of the Secretary of State, has responded to this request and has issued a Direction stating which Local Plan policies will be retained and used when determining planning applications. Listed below is the schedule of ‘saved’ policies that have not expired as of 9 June 2009.
