Can I still get a blue badge if I do not automatically qualify?
If you do not satisfy the requirements to get a blue badge automatically, you can still apply for a badge if you:
- drive a vehicle regularly, have a severe disability in both arms, and are unable to operate, or have considerable difficulty operating, all or some types of Parking Meters
- are a child under 3 that has a condition that they always be accompanied by bulky medical equipment that cannot be carried about with the chlld without great difficulty
- are a child under 3 that has a condition that requires they must always be kept near a motor vehicle, so that they can, if necessary, be treated for that condition in the vehicle or taken quickly in the vehicle to a place where they can be treated
- have a permanent and substantial disability which means you are unable to walk or have very considerable difficulty in walking
If your application has not been approved, you will be given an explanation. You have no right of appeal against a decision by us to refuse a Blue Badge. However, if you have been refused you may ask us to reconsider if you feel that your mobility problems have become more serious. You may be asked to attend a mobility assessment interview with an occupational therapist.
