Building Schools for the Future
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) was the biggest national schools investment programme in over 50 years. The Government’s plan was to rebuild or renew every secondary age state school in England. BSF was cancelled in July 2010 as part of a capital spending review.
Due to the advanced nature of Blackpool’s programme, the coalition Government announced in August 2010 that our 3 sample schools would be approved to proceed to financial close.
These 3 schools are;
- Highfield Humanities College;
- St Mary’s Catholic College and
- The Mountford Centre (part of the education diversity unit).
Blackpool’s BSF programme reached financial close on 19th November 2010 when the Blackpool Local Education Partnership (LEP) was formed.
Blackpool LEP limited is a public private partnership between;
- Blackpool Council;
- The Eric Wright Group, and
- Northgate Managed Services.
The sample scheme projects are now being delivered by the Blackpool LEP – please see www.lepblackpool.co.uk for further information.
