Business Rates Bills

Business Rates Bills Business Rate bills are issued in March each year and include details of how to pay.

The property description shown on the bills includes the words "and premises".  This is a general term used by the Valuation Office Agency in Lancaster which is added to all property descriptions.  For example, in the case of a shop which has a staff toilet, the toilet is included in "and premises".

All business properties have a rateable value which is decided by the Valuation Office Agency.

The office which deals with properties in Blackpool is in Lancaster at Mitre House, Church Street, Lancaster LA1 1HG. Telephone 03000 501501

Following the property revaluation in the year 2010, the rateable value represents the annual rent a property could have been let for on the open market as at 1st April 2008. Further revaluations will take place usually every five years but the next one is postponed until 2017 to make sure the values are up to date and each bill is fair. 5 yearly revaluations will continue from 2017.

You can get details about the rateable value of your property by contacting our Business Rates team on 01253 478857.

Or you can view the Valuation Office Agency website at www.voa.gov.uk for more information.
