CPA - Performance Information

The CPA (Comprehensive Performance Assessment) is a Council wide assessment carried out by the Audit Commission on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG).

The process involves a team of government inspectors visiting the borough to form a view on how they think the Council is performing.

CPA is a significant process that was introduced to drive improvement in local government services across England and Wales and has encouraged Blackpool Council to celebrate its successes and embrace any challenges it may be facing.

Prior to the inspectors visiting,  Blackpool produced a self-assessment document in which we tell the government how we think we are performing.

The CPA process is designed to look at how all Councils are performing and subsequently grade each one as excellent, good, fair or poor; the ultimate aim being to ensure that Councils are providing the best possible service from the perspective of the public.

In 2008 the overall performance of the Council was graded as 3 star, and the Council was said to be improving well.
