Care at Home Fairer Charging

Care at Home Fairer Charging All councils have to follow Government Guidance on how people are charged for the services they receive at home. This is to make sure councils are charging people fairly and do not leave anyone in financial hardship as a direct result of charges for their care at home.

We assess your charge by carrying out a financial assessment based on what income you have coming in and any capital and savings you hold. At the same time you will be advised about any benefits you may be entitled to. We will even help you apply for those benefits.

You will be charged for services such as care at home, Day Care, Community Alarm, Supported Living and Direct Payments. A review of the charges is carried out annually.

We will tell you your charge in writing and we will let you know how much you have to pay and when you need to start paying.

If you disagree with the charge you can request a review at any time. Download our 'Paying for Care at Home' fact sheet for more details.

If you want to cancel the service, increase the service or decrease the service you must contact your Social Worker or contact Social Services.
