Childcare Training and Recruitment Become a registered childminder
The first step will be to attend a childminder briefing session which lasts for approx 2 hours, the Early Years Childminding Development Workers will be there to deliver an Ofsted presentation, give help and advice and to answer any questions you may have.
If you would like to find out more, why not call today and book a place on the next childminder briefing session evening. If after the briefing you decide to continue with the registration process to become a childminder the next step would be for you to attend understand how to set up a home base childcare service (CYPOP5) a unit of the Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce an accredited childcare course lasting 7 weeks. It has been specially designed to provide you with all the relevant information for your OFSTED inspection.

We can help you access jobs in childcare settings across Blackpool by emailing any current vacancies. We also hold a list of settings that may be willing to accept volunteer’s dependant on their current staffing levels.

Training
If you work in the private, voluntary or independent childcare sector, you can access a range of training opportunities through the Blackpool Early Years and Childcare Team. Your setting receives regular emails outlining the latest courses and venues.

Short course/CPD training
We offer the following courses from £20 per person at various points throughout the year: · Early Years First Aid, Fire Safety, Risk Assessment, Safeguarding, Safeguarding the Next Steps, Manual Handling, Basic Food Hygiene. In addition, we offer a variety of half and full day courses covering different aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and once a year we hold a Training Weekend where all the above courses and many more are available under one roof over 2 days.


Vocational Qualifications If you are interested in gaining further qualifications to increase your knowledge, enhance your practice or improve your career prospects, we are here to offer advice and guidance and signpost you to any financial support available. The Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce is a level 2 (entry level) qualification and the Diploma is level 3. Both are delivered by several local training providers. Contact the Early Years and Childcare Team to see if you are eligible to receive funding.
Higher Education Keen to progress your studies even further? With a full level 3 qualification in a relevant subject and experience of working in the early years, you could undertake an endorsed Foundation Degree in Early Years. The course is available full or part-time through a range of regional and national universities and training providers, and can be ‘topped up’ with a BA Hons year if you wish to go on to complete a full degree.

Early Years Professional Status (EYPS)
EYPS is a postgraduate status that recognises quality practice and leadership in the early years. By 2015 private, voluntary and independent settings providing full day care are expected to have a practitioner with EYPS leading practice. In light of this, various training pathways to help degree level practitioners achieve EYPS are available, with financial support packages for both practitioners and settings.
