Community and Day Centres

Community and Day Centres There are a number of providers of Day Care in Blackpool. Details of private providers are included in the Factsheet “Day Care in Blackpool”. You can download it from here or contact us and we will send you a copy.

Age Concern also run a number of Day Care Centres in Blackpool. Tel: 01253 622812

5 Day Centres Sessions located in 5 different Community Centres, are provided each week. The Centres provide a comfortable and stimulating environment and clients have the opportunity to develop friendships and share concerns with a member of the supportive, caring staff and volunteers team. In addition to the three course lunch and refreshments, there are a wide range of activities, entertainment and day trips available.
 
Blackpool Council runs three day-care facilities:

Langdale Care Centre

Provides Day Services for adults aged 18 and over who have a learning disability and who are eligible for social care services. The centre offers a wide range of activities based on your individual needs.

These include
  • Horticulture
  • Interactive Touch Screens Computer Sessions
  • DVD Production and
  • relaxation sessions
The centre is open between 8.45am and 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 3.00pm Friday. Meals are provided at a small charge.

There is a charge for this service.

Highfield Health and Well-being Centre

Provides day services to people aged 65 and over who live in central and south Blackpool and are eligible for social care services. Highfield aims to help you to stay healthy, get involved in activities such as discussion groups, music, quizzes, yoga and gentle exercise, and maintain your independence.

The centre also offers Life Skills Training, a Computer Suite, Counselling, a Multisensory room, Chiropody and a Hydrotherapy bath. District Nurses and GPs can arrange to visit clients at the Centre.

The Centre is open between 9.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Meals are provided at a small charge.

Keats Day Service


Provides day care for older people with mental health problems. The service is open 9.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday and lunch and refreshments are provided.

Referrals can be made by social services, community mental health teams, hospitals, and the memory clinic for people who are registered on the Care Programme Approach (CPA). The team also offers an outreach service where they visit you at home.

There is no charge for this service.
