Council Tax Account Enquiries

Council Tax Account Enquiries Council tax is payable on domestic dwellings and is charged by Blackpool Council to pay for the services it provides.

The council tax rates are published each year together with information on how rates are assessed, eligibility, how to pay etc.

We also provide information on how to appeal if you think your council tax bill is incorrect.

Details of who has to pay are listed in Government legislation.  If you are the person placed highest on the list below you are responsible to pay for your address.

  • owner / occupier
  • tenant
  • licence / lessee
  • resident
  • non-resident owner
There can be more than one person responsible for payment.  "Joint and Several" liability means that anyone who has the same interest in a property is jointly responsible for paying.  For more information about joint responsibility for payment, please use this link to our leaflet.

This means that married couples and people living together as a couple have joint and several liability to pay whether they have equal interest in the property or not.

Everyone has the right to pay by monthly instalments (usually from April to January each year).  The number of instalments available depends on which month has been reached and when your first bill is  issued.

There are several different ways to help you pay - please use this link to our leaflet "How do I pay?" for more information about this.

You can also view our leaflet "What happens if I don't pay on time".

If you would like to pay online using your debit or credit card, please use this link to make a payment.
