Council Tax Arrears

Council Tax Arrears You have the right to pay by instalments from April to January each year but if you do not pay, you lose the right to pay in this way and you may have to pay the full amount in one lump sum.   If your payments are in arrears, you will get a reminder notice from us asking you to bring your account up to date.  We are required by law to include all payments due up to 7 days after the date we have sent the reminder to you.

If you do not pay the amount on the reminder, further action will be taken which may result in extra costs being added to your account.  These costs are added to cover the extra expenses incurred in sending extra letters, postage and fees we have to pay to the Magistrates Court.

If you are having problems in making payments, please contact us without delay to discuss the matter.

You can also find out more about debt management by using the link to DEBT ADVICE in the right hand menu.
