Cycle Blackpool

Cycle Blackpool Blackpool Council recognises cycling as a versatile mode of transport and a great way to stay fit, reduce congestion and pollution. The resort aims to make cycling fun and as easy as possible for both residents and visitors.

The Cycling England organisation awarded Blackpool ‘Cycling Town’ status in the summer of 2008. Since then the Council has implemented a programme including new cycling facilities, more training for children and adults, and cycling events. This programme will provide four ‘Signature Routes’ helping cyclists travel from the Promenade into Blackpool and to the countryside. The Promenade itself will be open to cyclists from the summer of 2010, when sea-wall works are complete.

To find out where cycle routes are currently, use the FAQs below. Cycle maps for the north and south of Blackpool are available, or a paper map is available from the address provided.

The Jubilee Cycle Way and South Promenade routes allow you to enjoy some of Blackpool's famous attractions and modern artwork, as well as providing beautiful views over the coast. The Talbot Square - Staining route takes you out of town, through the beautiful Stanley Park with its art deco cafe, and off-road through the countryside to the pretty Staining village.

Cycle parking is provided at various locations around the resort, at leisure facilities and on official cycle routes. Why not hire one of our bikes and check this out for yourself?

Blackpool Council promotes safer cycling and offers free cycle training to adults and children.

Youngsters who are cycle trained also have the opportunity to join the Blackpool Youth Cycling Association (BYCA) to continue to cycle for fun.

Please enjoy cycling in Blackpool with care for yourself and others.
