Who can help if I think a building or structure is dangerous?
We deal with all dangerous structures occurring in the town. These emanate from a variety of sources and are generally notified by members of the emergency services and the public.
In this respect, Building Surveyors advise on the means by which a danger caused by a building or structure to members of the public can be eliminated.
Building Control has the responsibility to require owners to make their buildings safe and to instruct the dangerous structure contractor on how to remove an imminent danger if required. Statutory powers are contained in the Building Act.
