What other organisations can offer help with adaptations and aids?
In Blackpool there are three voluntary organisations that can provide you with small pieces of equipment, either immediately or by ordering them for you. Each organisation has a set of basic equipment so that you can try before you buy. They also have a range of catalogues for you to find and order just what you need to make your life easier.

Age Concern can provide a range of small aids for daily living including long shoe horns, lightweight cutlery, tap turners and non slip mats. Items are ordered from a catalogue and delivery can be arranged to your home. Costs include a small administrative charge.

The Blind Society can provide a wide range of equipment, available at cost price, for people with visual difficulties what ever their age. You do not have to be registered Blind. You can visit the Resource Centre to try out various types of equipment before you buy.
The Resource Centre is open to personal callers each Monday from 9.30am – 4.00pm. If you would like to visit on another day (Tuesday to Friday) please ring 01253 362696 to make an appointment. We are not open at weekends.

The Red Cross can provide the following equipment:
- Wheelchairs
- Commodes
- Raised Toilet Seats
- Shower Stools/Chairs
- Bed back Rests.
Equipment is loaned for a maximum of 8 weeks. All items require a £25 refundable deposit. No charge is made per loan but the Red Cross ask for a donation for the use of the equipment. Wheelchair maintenance can also be arranged at the Red Cross offices.
