E-Safety

E-Safety
The Internet - a virtual world but with REAL dangers!
Stay e-Safe and aware of the risks while surfing the net.

The Internet is like bringing a city into your living room; there are the exciting places for children and young people to go to learn and enjoy but also some places where you wouldn't want children to go unsupervised!

Blackpool Council is committed to raising awareness of e-Safety and encouraging parents to get involved with their children’s online activities, whatever their level of experience, in order to help their children reap the benefits of the Internet, both for learning and socialising and most importantly to avoid the dangers.

Adults, as well as young people, need to be aware of dangers online - viruses, hackers spam, fraud, identity theft - don't become a victim! Make yourself aware of the dangers, and stay safe online!

Check out...

www.thinkuknow.co.uk A fantastic website for e-Safety advice & guidance on a number of areas - cyberbullying, grooming, sexting, hacking, viruses, gaming and loads more important e-issues.

Thinkuknow is great because the information is there for YOU - there are specific areas dedicated to all young people, 5yrs to teens; parents & carers; teachers and other professionals.

Most importantly, there’s also a place which anyone can use to report if they feel uncomfortable or worried about someone they are chatting to online.

The Metropolitan Police Service has a fantastic website all about staying safe. Although it is a website for the Metropolitan Area, it is well worth a look as there is some great information and advice and links to National helplines.

For local police and crime prevention information - visit the Lancashire Constabulary website.
