Annual Canvass
ANNUAL CANVASSEvery year, between the beginning of August and the end of November, the council conducts a review of the Register of Electors. This is known as the Annual Canvass.
A form will be sent to each address in Blackpool by no later than the 1st September. If you have not received your form by this date you can contact us to request a replacement on telephone number 477477.
Once you have received your canvass form and have checked the details are correct then you can register by using the telephone, internet or by SMS service. If the details listed on the form are incorrect then you can add, amend or delete the incorrect details and then send it back using the pre paid envelope it arrived in.
During the Canvass period, the council will try to reach each property several times, by posting reminders or personal visits, until it has obtained a response.
Please remember that Canvass happens on a yearly basis, and that you are required by law to complete and return the Register of Electors form, even if you are not eligible to vote in the UK, or you have registered before and you are already on the Register. You may be fined up to £1,000 if you fail to do so. From all information received a revised Electoral Register is published on 1 December each year.
