Elections - Electoral Register

The Electoral Register:

To be able to vote in elections you need to be included on the Council’s electoral register.

The Electoral Register is a record of everyone who lives within a borough and is eligible to vote. To keep our records as up to date as possible we send registration forms out to every property in the autumn of each year. The names of all citizens who are 18 years old or over, British, Commonwealth, Irish and European Union MUST be included on the form.

Copies of the electoral register are available to view at Layton Library (Talbot Road), during the renovation of the Central Library (Queen Street), or at the Customer First reception (Corporation Street).

Eligibility to register to vote:

In order to register to vote you must be:

  • 18 years old or over
  • a British, Commonwealth, Irish or European Union citizen and
  • living in the Blackpool Borough.
Please use the link for a list of countries whose citizens are eligible to vote.

How to register:

You can check if your name is on the electoral register by contacting the service (details are on the right of this page).

You can register either by completing the registration form delivered to your household each autumn, or throughout the year by contacting Electoral Services for a form on (01253) 477477 or download the Rolling Registration form by clicking this link.

Please note that we can only accept forms electronically that have been signed by hand. To do this you must have access to a scanner.

The register is updated on a monthly basis. There is a deadline each month for when your registration form has to be in our office. (Please use this link for qualifying dates). The register will show all new alterations at the beginning of the next month.

Please note that there is a maximum fine of £1,000 for any false information given on a registration form.
