What procedures are followed to make sure cremated remains are kept separate?

A cremator can physically only accept one coffin at a time and all remains are removed before the unit can be used again.  An identity card accompanies the coffin and cremated remains throughout the process until final dispersal.

The Code of Practice and practical necessity are complementary and combine to make sure the separation of cremated remains is achieved.  Blackpool Crematorium is a member of the Federation of British Cremation Authorities and is required to operate the service strictly within the Code of Practice.

The cremation usually starts shortly after the service.  The Code of Practice specifies that cremation is always completed on the same day as the service.
