The Tidy Garden Scheme helps older people continue to use their gardens and improve safety and security. One of the most commonly quoted reasons for people moving into residential care is that they cannot manage their gardens any longer.
Research by Help the Aged has shown that bogus callers (people who may try to cheat and steal from you by calling at the door and claiming to be someone they are not) are more likely to target a property that has an overgrown or unkempt garden. This is because it may reveal that the occupier is a vulnerable person.
