Recycle your electrical items

Recycle your electrical items Do you have old electrical items that you want to get rid of? Did you know that these items can be recycled?!

Along with recycling plastics, metals, paper and glass you can now further reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and recycle electrical goods.

By keeping Electrical items separate from other waste it can be treated, the hazardous substances can be removed and a large amount of waste can be recycled rather than sent to landfill.
Householders should now find it easier to recycle their old equipment through a mixture of improved local amenity sites and new take-back facilities provided by various electrical retailers.

There are all sorts of ways you can recycle your electrical items:
  • When you buy a new appliance ask the retailer if they'll take your old products back, many retailers do offer this service.
  • Take your old appliances to your local civic amenity site (Bristol Avenue Household Waste Recycling Centre)
  • You can arrange for your local authority to collect the equipment (Blackpool Council offers a waste collection service, Bulky Matters, where you can ring up Customer First and arrange for a collection on a day and time that suits you. Click here to find out more)
