How will my Benefit be paid?
If you are a
private tenant in receipt of Local Housing Allowance your benefit will be paid directly to you. You can choose to have benefit paid straight into your bank account or by cheque. Your payments will be issued fortnightly. Please be aware that we cannot make payments into a Post Office card account. For further advice on bank accounts
please use this link to the FSA leaflet 'The facts about basic bank accounts?'. If you are a
council tenant your benefit will be paid directly into your rent account.
If you:
- are a Housing Association Tenant
- live in board and lodge accommodation
- live in a hostel or caravan
- have a registered social landlord tenancy
- or pre 1989 tenancy
then you can choose to have payments issued directly to you
or your landlord. You can make your choice on the application form when you make your claim for benefit.
If you are awarded Council Tax Benefit we will pay this directly into your Council Tax account.
