Joining the library.
To become a member of the library is free. No identification/proof of address is required to borrow books or spoken word items or for PC use. If you wish to borrow any audiovisual item (except spoken word) you will need to produce one form of ID with address. When you visit the library you will be required to complete a simple joining form. This form can be obtained from your local library or by printing a copy via one of the links below. A library card will then be issued to you. This can be used to borrow items or to book a PC on your first visit to the library.

Borrowing books and using public PCs is free of charge.
A maximum of 14 items can be on loan to a borrower at one time, ( of these items up to 4 can be DVDs and or talking books ). Books, talking books and Music CDs can be borrowed for up to 3 weeks. DVDs and VHS videos can be borrowed for up to 1 week.
Items can be renewed by telephone or when you visit the library.
Overdue charges for all types of item borrowed, amount to 15p per day per item up to a maximum of £6.00 plus a 25p notice charge, except for customers; under 16, over 65, in an exempted borrower category, or are Home Delivery customers who do not pay fines. NB over 65s still pay the 25p notice charge. (Exempted categories of user comprise; those in receipt of severe disablement allowance, industrial injuries disablement benefit, and disability living allowance.)
Music CDs and VHS videos are charged at £1.00 a week for adults, 50p for under 16s and free to exempted categories of customer and to Home Delivery customers. DVDs are charged at £2.00 a week for adults, £1.50 for under 16s and free to exempted categories of customer and Home Delivery customers.
To reserve a book costs 50p per item if held by Blackpool, or £1.50 per item if it has to be obtained from another library, or free if customer is under 16, one of the exempted categories of customer and Home Delivery customers
