What is the timetable for producing the Local Development Framework?
A new planning system was introduced in 2004 requiring local authorities to replace Local Plans (a single document setting out the planning policy framework for the local authority area) with a Local Development Framework - a number of policy and supplementary policy guidance documents that could be prepared, reviewed and updated individually over a period of years. It also requires that local authorities publish and annually update a 3 year programme for preparing and reviewing policy documents
(The Local Development Scheme).
As Blackpool has only recently updated its planning policies the focus of its initial 3 year programme is on the preparation of Area Action Plans for individual neighbourhoods and of briefs setting out how key proposals sites should be developed, two such planning briefs are the
Conference & Leisure Quarter and
Talbot Gateway.
