The Leisure Quarter
Introduction
The Leisure Quarter Development Brief Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was adopted by Blackpool Council on the 23
rd March 2011.
The SPD provides planning and design principles and performance criteria to promote and encourage creative proposals for redevelopment of the former Central Station site to deliver a unique leisure quarter which underpins Blackpool’s appeal as a national tourist destination. It expands on key planning policies, including Saved Policy RR1 in the Blackpool Local Plan and Draft Policy R10 in the Blackpool Core Strategy Preferred Option.
This SPD supersedes the Conference Leisure Quarter Planning Brief SPD (2006).
A separate Consultation Statement details the public consultation undertaken in preparation of the SPD and summarises the main issues raised during the formal consultation period and how these were addressed in the Adopted SPD.
