How does the Gambling Act affect Lotteries?
The Gambling Commission will have no involvement with the National Lottery but licences certain other lottery operators and lottery managers.
The council will license small society lotteries.
Some relaxation of the rules has taken place such as permitting rollovers, machine sales of tickets and businesses operating lotteries for the benefit of their customers.
The Gambling Act proposes tightening the rules relating to prize competitions and will require at least 20% of the proceeds going to good causes.
