Lotteries Registrations

Lotteries Registrations Blackpool Council as the Licensing Authority is responsible for registering small scale society lotteries under the Gambling Act 2005. The registration should be in the local authority area in which the principal offices of the society are situated.

If the proceeds of a society lottery exceed £20,000, or the aggregate proceeds in a calendar year exceed £250,000 then the organisation will require a lottery operating licence from the Gambling Commission.

In order to register the applicant must be a society established and conducted wholly or mainly for charitable purposes (including participation of or in support of athletic sports or games or cultural activities) or other purposes which are not for private gain or those of any commercial undertaking.
