How can I find out more about regeneration in the Conference & Leisure Quarter?

How can I find out more about regeneration in the Conference & Leisure Quarter? The Conference and Leisure Quarter (CLQ) is at the centre of Blackpool’s ambition to develop an exciting and unique destination with a sustainable year round economy. The development envisaged will attract conference, exhibition and entertainment events to the resort, rejuvenating its national profile, increasing overnight stays and visitor spending.

The CLQ will be developed in phases, initially centred on publicly-owned land and will accommodate the following which is detailed in an outline planning application submitted by ReBlackpool to Blackpool Council on 7th August 2006:

  • 2761 car parking spaces
  • Three hotels, 20 storeys high with 300 rooms, 14 storeys high with 324 rooms and 9 storeys high with 145 rooms respectively.
  • 18547 metres squared of leisure space
  • 6349 metres squared of retail space
  • 3740 metres squared of office space

The outline planning application will subsequently be determined by Blackpool Council.

The development is expected to bring between £200 to £450 million of capital investment and between 4.2m and 5.5m of visits per annum. It is hoped that the initial phase of development  will generate between 2500 and 3400 jobs.
