What progress has been made on the Masterplan?

What progress has been made on the Masterplan? Since the launch of the Masterplan 2003, a number of projects have been brought forward to implementation. The first stage of reshaping the seafront has been completed at the Southern Gateway where the car park has been transformed into a high quality experience that sets the standard for the future.

Extensive design work on the principal element of transforming the seafront has been carried out during the last two years and is now about to come to fruition northwards from the Southern Gateway.

A dramatic new gateway from the M55 has also been designed and was opened in May 2006, by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. This new gateway, which will be the visitors main entrance into the resort, incorporates Blackpool’s newest park the first to be constructed for 80 years.  For more information about the Central Gateway, please use this link to our leaflet.  You can also view our leaflet about the Southern Gateway.

Coupled with these major projects considerable effort has also gone into influencing the emerging gambling legislation, the proposals for the Hounds Hill shopping centre, securing tram funding, applications for town centre Heritage Lottery funding and neighbourhood renewal.
