Why does the Masterplan only concentrate on certain areas of Blackpool?
The Masterplan concentrates on the resort core, an area designated as an Economic Development Zone.
Whilst development will be concentrated in this area the Masterplan is designed to benefit the wider area through complementary regeneration, education and social programmes.
At the same time other existing development programmes will continue in these areas. As the Masterplan proceeds, the benefits of improved design quality and ease of maintenance in buildings in the public realm will ripple out into other parts of the town, together with the economic benefits associated with regeneration and a renewed interest in Blackpool.
