From the 1st September 2011, Blackpool Council will no longer organise meals for people new to Social Services. Instead people will be given advice about arranging their own meals and information about local providers. A list of local providers can be found in the Publications List on the right hand side of this page.
The changes will give people more control over their own support. People will have a choice about whether they have their meals delivered or if they prefer to arrange their meals another way – for example asking a family member to help or having frozen meals delivered from a supermarket. If they decide that having meals delivered is best for them they will be able to decide which provider to use.
People will also be able to organise when they want their meals directly with their provider without having to contact the Council.
From Monday 24th October 2011 the Council will no longer provide a meals service to existing service users.
They will be helped to purchase their meals directly from a private provider. They will need to contact the provider directly if they want to make any changes to their service. They will be asked to pay the full cost of the meals they order.
Existing service users can stay with the current provider BCM. If they prefer they can choose another provider. The Frequently Asked Questions Sheet in Publications provides details of other providers.
