A change in the way in which vacant properties are allocated is taking place across the Fylde Coast area. The new Choice Based Lettings scheme will replace the existing lettings schemes of the housing providers involved.
A partnership of Local Authorities and Housing Associations has been formed to develop and implement a choice based lettings scheme, which spans the whole of the Fylde Coast.
This partnership includes Blackpool Council, Fylde Borough Council, Wyre Borough Council, Blackpool Coastal Housing, New Fylde Housing, Wyre Housing Association, Great Places, Places for People and Muir Group.
The partnership is developing a Consistent Assessment Policy for assessing housing need. The name of the scheme will be MyHomeChoice.
Consultation
As part of the introduction of the MyHomeChoice scheme, Blackpool Council has agreed to use one consistent assessment policy to ensure that properties are allocated fairly and consistently. In addition to this policy Blackpool has an Annual Lettings Plan. This plan documents the challenges facing Blackpool in allocating the available social housing and how, strategically, Blackpool plans to tackle these challenges.
As part of the process to introduce these policies there is a public consultation. It is important to acquire the views of people from every sector of the community to ensure our policies suit all and are fair and consistent.
The consultation took place between 28th June and 8th October 2010. The results of this consultation will be posted on this website in due course. For more information visit the MyHomeChoice website. |
