Road Gritting
Blackpool Councils winter maintenance programme starts on 1st November and is operational until 31st March each year.
Reports from road sensors across the Borough and Lancashire are fed into a data programme which predicts road conditions for the next 24 hours. The conditions that the programme predicts act as a trigger for whether the council needs to deploy gritting vehicles.
Principal roads are gritted, this includes most bus routes and other local black spots where there is considered to be a high risk of ice causing accidents.
