Licences are required for premises used as:
- Pubs, nightclubs, off-licences, restaurants, guest houses, private members clubs and other places that supply alcohol;
- Venues for boxing or wrestling and other indoor sporting events;
- Businesses offering hot food and hot drink between 11pm and 5am;
- Theatres and amateur dramatic groups;
- Cinemas and other venues which exhibit films;
- Regulated entertainment, including cabaret or karaoke in hotels / guest houses.
Any premises where alcohol is supplied must have a nominated Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) who will be the main point of contact if problems occur at the premises. The DPS must hold a Personal Licence. No sale of alcohol is permitted if the DPS leaves or if their Personal Licence is revoked, suspended or surrendered.
If a Licensed Premises is giving cause for concern after the grant of a Premises Licence, a local resident or responsible authority may apply for a review of the licence. A review must be in relation to one of the licensing objectives, and must not be frivolous, vexatious or repetitious.
