What do I do if I sell my business or leave the premises?
Unless you inform the Licensing Service that you have left a Premises where you are the Licence Holder and / or Premises Supervisor you will still be responsible for any licensable activities that occur there, as well as being liable for the annual fee for the licence when it is due.
Premises Licence holders should ensure that the new occupiers of the Premises apply to transfer the licence into their name, for which the outgoing licence holder should sign a form of consent. If you are concerned that a transfer application may not be made, or if the new owners do not require a licence, you should surrender the premises licence by returning the original licence and summary together with a notice in writing to the Licensing Service.
Designated Premises Supervisors should write to the Licensing Service clearly stating the date from which they will no longer act as Supervisor and the premises to which the resignation relates. A copy of this notice should also be sent to the Premises Licence Holder. Please contact the Licensing Service for further advice.
