Getting Information in an Emergency
When a major incident occurs the radio, television and websites generally provide the fastest means of circulating information and advice to the public.
The government, emergency services and local authorities will at the earliest opportunity, make available to the media information for the public on how best to react to the situation.
There are agreements in place with radio and TV broadcasters that if there is a major emergency, they will interrupt programming to give public safety advice and information about the incident, so that when you tune in locally or nationally anywhere in the UK, you will get the advice you need.
It is recommended that you tune into your local radio station.
