Changes to Birth Certificates
There are some circumstances that will enable you to change the details recorded in the original birth registration or to add information to it. These could be:
- To correct an error
- To add the natural father’s details to the record (called a birth re-registration).
- To alter the birth record to show that the natural parents have married each other since the birth (also called a birth re-registration)
- To change a child’s forenames

There is no charge for changing the birth record, but there is a fee for providing certificates of the corrected or re-registered record.
